The sound of the rustling leaves as the wind picked up almost drowned out Sakura's words... her confession, but Sasuke still heard it. Clearly so.
He looked at her, surprised. However, it wasn't because of her confessio because he knew it was bound to happen; it wasn't also because of her feelings because he had known about it since they were twelve. What surprised Sasuke was the confidence in her voice and the smile on her face. Was she certain for his positive reply?
"Why do you look so surprise, Sasuke-kun?" Sakura asked. "I always like you. I always like you very much."
"I know," Sasuke said indifferently."
The kunoichi shook her head. "You only understand half of it." She linked her hands behind her back before she continued with a blush lightly tainting her cheeks, "You see, I can only like you when Naruto is around."
Sasuke scowled as he misinterpreted Sakura's words as an insult to their blond teammate until he noticed Sakura's blush. It was not a blush of a girl but a blush of a woman... a woman in love. "S-Sakura, don't tell me!?"
The kunoichi nodded. "I love Naruto." Her voice was soft and resolute, completely different from what she used when she told him that she liked him.
"Hn." Sasuke inserted his hands into his pockets.
Sakura just smiled and walked away. She said what she wanted to say. She stopped. No, not everything. Still looking ahead, she said, "By the way, Sasuke-kun, I'll not lose to you." She threw him a smile over her shoulder. Her smile grew wider seeing the blush on Sasuke's face.
"Don't misunderstand things," he said with a hint of panic in his voice.
Sakura just winked at him before she resumed walking.
Sasuke watched her until she disappeared around the corner. He snorted. "As if I'll lose to anyone." He looked at the sky. Sakura wasn't a threat but she was a rival. He couldn't put his guard down. He had to double his efforts. A ghostly smile appeared on his lips the moment he spotted Naruto down the road.
"Hey, dobe!"
He must win at all cost.
His heart skipped a bit seeing that smile.
Definitely.
